Privacy policy

Last updated: October 12, 2026

Western Canada Projects publishes monthly briefings on industrial and data-centre projects in Western Canada. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices. It is written to meet Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act, and Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL).

What we collect

  • When you subscribe: your email address, and optionally your name, company, role and which briefings you want. We also record your consent: the wording you agreed to, the date and time, the page, and the IP address and browser that submitted the form, so we can prove consent if asked.
  • When you contact us or ask about a licence or sponsorship: the details you put in the form.
  • When you open or click our emails: our email provider may record opens and clicks in aggregate so we can tell which topics are useful.

When you buy a paid plan we also keep your name, email and billing address. Card details go directly to our payment processor, Stripe; we never see or store them. Our site uses Vercel Web Analytics, which counts page views without cookies and without identifying you.

We do not use advertising trackers or sell, rent or share your information with anyone for their own marketing.

How we use it

  • To send the briefings and related updates you consented to, such as a short mid-month alert or notice of a new briefing.
  • To reply to your messages and handle licence or sponsorship inquiries.
  • To understand, in aggregate, who reads the briefings, for example for sponsor reporting. Sponsors never receive subscriber names or addresses.

Consent and unsubscribing

We only email you if you ticked the consent box when you subscribed, or otherwise expressly agreed. Every email identifies Western Canada Projects, includes a way to contact us, and has a one-click unsubscribe link. You can also unsubscribe here at any time. We act on unsubscribe requests immediately, and in all cases within 10 business days.

Where it is stored

Subscriber records are stored with our hosting provider (Vercel) and, for delivery, with our email delivery provider. These providers may store data outside Canada, including in the United States, where it may be subject to local law. They process it only on our behalf.

How long we keep it

We keep subscriber records while you are subscribed. After you unsubscribe we keep only your address and the date you unsubscribed, so we never email you again by mistake, and proof of your original consent for as long as CASL requires. Inquiries are kept for up to three years.

Your rights

You can ask to see the information we hold about you, have it corrected, or have it deleted (except the minimum record we need to honour an unsubscribe). Use our contact form and we will respond within 30 days.
